How piano removal works
Text a photo of the piano and a photo of the path out: the doorway, the stairs, any turns. That is what sets the price, and we quote it once. On the day, two of us come with a piano dolly, straps and a skid board. Uprights roll out on the dolly. Baby grands come apart, legs off, on their side, and out on the board.
If a piano genuinely will not fit through the house, we take it apart in the room. The harp is cast iron and goes to a recycler. The cabinet is wood and goes to the county.
Pianos in old Richmond houses
A lot of houses in the Fan, Ginter Park and Bellevue have an upright that came with the house or has been in the family since the 1940s. The stairs have a turn at the landing and the front door opens onto the sidewalk. We have the equipment for that, and we will tell you before we start if it is a two-person or three-person job.
The honest word on value
Most old uprights have no resale value and cost more to move than they are worth. If yours is a name brand in good condition, tell us and we will suggest trying a school or a church first. If not, we haul it.
